PostSubject: Hunter app   Hunter app Icon_minitimeSat Oct 18, 2008 3:10 am

General information:

Characters name: Beaker
Class: Hunter (aka Warlock Misdirection Specialist )
Race: Dwarf
Level at time of application: 70
Played Time on your character: 80 DAYS 2 HRS (on beaker anyways)
Professions and level of professions: 375 Engineering, 375 Mining (currently anyways may lvl up something else if required by guild or more beneficial.....but a motorcycle mount should be nice Very Happy)
Do you have a stable internet connection (Yes/No and average MS in raids): Yes, approx 180-200....maybe a tad high but never had any problems or noticed any lag even in busy areas.

How soon after release are you aiming to be level 80 and how are you going to achieve this? (I.E. booked a week off work, cleared your evening commitments for 2 weeks, out of work):
As soon as freakishly possible. Like a total geek I’m using Holiday time to achieve this and have booked a week and a half off work. Addictive behaviour? Perhaps lol 

What other characters will you level to 80?
My lvl 70 mage and my lvl 70 druid (feral/balance) and a death knight. A bit ambitious maybe but I like to have options 
TBH if you guys have any preferences as too whish class I lvl I’m open to suggestions. I know you have lots of hunters already and as much as I love my hunter I’d be happy to try something new as my raiding main and bring something else to the party. If you’re looking for someone to fill the Death knight spots I’d be up for putting priority on that and levelling like a loon to hit 80 in a couple of weeks max. Hope this doesn’t sound too flaky, just trying to let show that I’m flexible.

Raid times and Experience:

We currently raid 6 days a week, days and times could possibly change in WotLK, please delete yes or no below depending on whether you would be able to attend or not. (server times)
Monday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Tuesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Wednesday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Thursday 19:30-00:00 - Yes
Friday 19:30-xx:xx – Yes (2-3AM easily lol...it’s the frickin weekend:))
Saturday is rest day xxxxx
Sunday 19:30-23:00 – Yes
If ever I cannot make a raid time I’ll normally know way ahead of schedule (ie parents visiting or something) and will say something.

Do you have pre-TBC raiding experience, if so what?
I have run Naxx and AQ a few times with the weekend runs recently, Other than that not much beside 5 mans

What is the highest TBC raid boss you have killed and attempted to kill?
6/9 in BT....up to ROS and Bloodboil.

General questions

Previous guilds and reasons for leaving? Was previously in Prosapia with Scuba and others. Great guild and I was gutted when it stopped raiding and people left. Back in TKOTT my original guild and a brilliant social guild that has had some success. Unfortunately the social atmosphere isn’t what it was with a lot of players losing interest and others leaving for new pastures and guild events have pretty much dried up.

What role do you feel you provide in a raid and what areas of strengths do you feel your class and spec has over others? The role of a hunter has always been to provide a high level of sustained damage. We may not have the burst damage of a rogue or mage or great aoe abilities, but we weren’t made for the sprint....we’re the marathon runners of wow. As such my spec has always been tailored for efficiency: to keep pewpew’ing indefinitely, unhampered by threat as we can wipe it regularly. I was 41/20 BM specced for TBC, yes a cookie cutter spec...but proven to work.
Plus the Misdirects are nice...as long as it’s on the tank Smile

In WotLK; what changes will you make to your spec and how do you feel the talent changes in WotLK will affect you most?
The hunter class has had a major overhaul for the new exp. In terms of talents and skills it seems we are going to be doing a lot of “aspect dancing” with the changes to Viper. I’ve been looking at a heavy MM spec with 55 points in the tree. I think the days of dropping barely enough points in a tree to get the end talent are gone (ie 41 for TBW). I think the spec below is beneficial for a Serpent sting/chimera/steady rotation while providing some mana efficiency. Of course all of this is all just theory crafting until we get to 80 and see how the classes synergise

Name 1 thing you feel has been changed negatively regarding your class in the expansion? (if you can't then say why you can't)
I initially believed that the Aspect of the Viper changes were a big nerf for the hunter (half damage while in the aspect?!!!)....but after experimenting on those lovely new test dummies in the city it seems that it could be a positive change with the class in that not only are we able to regen mana incredibly quickly it also adds an extra layer of tactical thought (more time in hawk, less in viper....will the regen be quick enough to avoid a significant drop in damage done overall? Time will tell).
I can think of a couple of other things to moan about (aka blame on snoopa) but you asked for one....lol.

What do you think you can add to Eternals?
Humour and a dedicated player, willing to bash his head off a brick wall to get results (I have no problems wiping a 100 times as long as we learn something to make us better each and every single time)

What do you think Eternals can do for you?
Provide a like minded community filled with other nutcases like me who like to succeed and want to see everything the game has to offcer while having some fun.

Personal infomation; Name, age, where you live, interests/hobbies, Job and family that will nag you to stop raiding?
James, 25, Aberdeen
Interests include WoW (...well...duh...lol), Rugby, Snowboarding and movies (major film buff)
I work full time. Normally get home about 19.00pm server time, so I can make raid times. Plus I live alone (/cry...no one loves me Sad ) so Nagging wife or Kids aren’t a problem.

Additional information which you would like to name?
Other profs include 375 herbs and alchemy and tailoring over 350 (other profs as well but not as high yet)

Also....Grimax is actually a 12 year old girl (/hug)....just thought you ought to know Smile

Trying to book your place in end game content by not caring which character youre on hehe

What glyphs do you think are the best for level 80 end game raiding, and can you explain your answer please.

Also what do you think the best pet/pet talent tree will be?

Thanks Smile

Please don't mistake my intentions. I love my hunter and would happily take him into Wotlk PvE (my only dis-satifactions with the class comes from pvp which frustrates me endlesslly), just saying I'd be happy to try something else.

In regards to your question:

Glyphs -

Glyph of Steady shot. Its a major glyph that increase the damage of your SS by 10% on a target as long as Serpent sting is up. OBviously steady is a big part of any hunters damage and with the rotation I've been looking at (serpent and chimera every CD) this would be effective over time.

Glyph of Aspect of the Viper. Increases mana gain in viper by 10%. beneficial to reduce time in viper at 50% damage (untalented)

last major would be a toss up between Glyph of Arcane Shot or Trueshot Aura. 2% increase on the Aura would be great over time, but if we can incorporate Arcane into a shot rotation without gimping mana efficiency the reduced mana cost of the shot would help. Would require testing.

From the minor glyphs i've seen so far (which are pretty lackluster) I'd use Feign Death for the reduced CD, Mend Pet and Revive Pet.

This is all based on the glyphs I've seen so far. If I've missed something you'd consider more useful or if there are more glyphs to come please let me know.

Pet:

Don't think we can say which pet or tree is best...would depend on the situation and my own spec, as different pets, trees and skills could be considered more viable.
For MM spec in a raiding/instant setting I'd be looking at a Wolf, A ferocity pet, for Furious Howl (AP increase for party/raid) and specced for survivability due to not having all the benefits of the BM tree.

We finally get extra stable slots and they are not enough lol Smile

Hope that answers your question. Thanks.

From this application I do like you alot.
Its hard to say if we'll have hunter slots available in a months time though, I myself play one, and im not sure which character will be my main yet, and we have 2 very active ones currently, who have not said what their plans or or what thier mains will be. Add that to one of our resto shaman wanting to play hunter in wotlk, and its tricky, considering through TBC we ran with 3 active hunters at any one time.
The officers will discuss your application in detail, thanks. Smile
